Default A new idea for getting help - group buys.

To all of you that have the driveways to be done... The yards.. Stuff around the house...

Whatever.

There are a lot of people collected here. And there are a ton of people that just lurk or don't post.

I have an idea that usually works well on more "traditional" forums.

Group buys.

I'm considering opening a forum section for group buys.

Basically, a collected section where people can gauge interest / have "me too" posts / etc to get a bunch of people together to help get a discounted group rate for some type of service.

Sound like a reasonable enough idea?

Things are dragging out ... way out.

And I think most people are looking for solutions.

So, why not help one another?

I want to do this in a way that is respectful to not only me but the dozens of people I have either pissed off or turned away or whatever in the past about my policy in regard to advertising. And to those that HAVE paid to advertise on here.

I know a some people don't get it (this isn't specific to the recent paving thread.. just a general statement), but it costs a lot of my personal money and time to run this. And I don't want people profiting off of it when .. quite frankly - I don't. To date, I don't have millions from this and the donations that have come in have gone to keep the lights on and the docs pulled.

If I did make money, it would likely just go to my house to finish all the incomplete things THP left me with, but I digress.

Anyway...

I'm still tooling that around in my head, but I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

I am "Unfairly Burdened" with liens due to THP's inabilities to pay their bills :

~2k - B&F Insulation - A Masco Company
~11k - ServiceMark - A UGI HVAC D/B/A

I'm still waiting, THP :

"We are working diligently with vendors and lenders to develop a restructuring plan that includes an agreement by the mechanics lien holders to release liens against completed homes. Our discussions have been encouraging, and we intend to see that all legal action is taken to ensure that no homeowner is unfairly burdened by these liens. We continue to specifically address this issue in our discussions. Our goal is to reach the best possible outcome for all parties as soon as possible."

Note : I am not a lawyer. Any information received from a post is just that - information. It is not legal advice.

As someone who is owed grading, seeding and landscaping, I think that this is a great idea! My husband and I are looking to give TH(P) some more time in hopes that we won't have to pay for all of this ourselves, but it would be nice to connect with others in the same boat and be able to possibly get a group discount if we do have to take care of our lawn ourselves.
